The reception fee contributes toward the upkeep, maintenance & staffing of all six main areas of the estate comprising the reception hall, courtyard, front & side gardens, the rear terraces & vineyard. Unlike a marquee, our venue fee includes the provision of all tables, chairs, white chair covers, white bridal carpet, parasols, tables & covers for the Champagne reception & the upkeep, staffing & organisation of all these aspects. It also includes many 'in-stock' items such as large vases for flowers, storm vases for the courtyard & certain props for table decorations. We also help plan & arrange almost all aspects of your function including your blessing, at no additional cost & thereby include many aspects that a Wedding or Events Planner would always charge for.

Legal requirements for marrying in France: To get the legal marriage papers prepared in France, you have to contact the British Embassy in Lyon & prove that you have lived here for 6 months, get blood tests & personally serve all of your documentation to the Mayor's office in our village. Your marriage papers have to be translated & converted to the law of your country of residence before your marriage is recognized! Yes, we can help with the official paperwork. Don’t worry!

Although we can help you arrange a Civil wedding in France, sometimes it is better to have the legal documentation registered in the country of origin, which is essential for banks & mortgages etc & if you want to change the name in your passport or other documents.

If you arrange a 'quicky' signing of the papers in the country of origin, without a ceremony, the day before you leave for your wedding in France, all the legalities will be taken care of. The essence is to not look upon the civil signing of your papers in your own country as being your marriage, but just the legal documentation leading up to your 'real' wedding day in France, either in Church or a personal ceremony at the Chateau.

Catholic preparation requirements

1. Human & Spiritual Preparation. Each parish holds 3 separate Marriage Days each year to which all couples who wish to be married must attend. The day involves talks on the human & spiritual sides of marriage from the Parish Priest a theologian & a Catholic medical professional.

2. Preparation of Marriage papers. This is a necessary part to ensure that both parties are 'free' to marry their spouse. All the completed papers are sent to the Diocesan Chancellor who then sends them to the relevant Chancellor across the globe. The papers are then sent to the appropriate Parish Priest. The documents are sent to the Chancellor, who sends them to the respective country six weeks prior to the marriage. Please contact your local Priest.

The documents required are as follows:

a) From the Catholic party/parties

• Baptism Certificate (This is obtained from the Parish in which you were baptised)

• Letter/s of Freedom which can be substituted by signing a 'Statutory Declaration of Freedom' in front of a Commissioner of Oaths. Most solicitors are such.

Religious blessings: If you do not want to have a formal church wedding but would like to have a religious blessing, we can offer you a personalised service within our gardens. We can organize a Pastor or you can bring your own. We help you compose the service, readings & music. Having a ‘spiritual’ blessing of your marriage can bring a sense of religious sharing with friends & family, a statement of foundation & belief in marriage.

Humanist weddings: Humanist ceremonies are individual & non-religious. They are increasing in number each year & are popular with people who do not want a Church blessing, but who want to enter into a publicly committed marital relationship. The Humanist ceremony concentrates on positive moral values from life that are based on human experience, rather than God-given. The weddings are dignified, caring & personal. The Humanist organisation publishes a practical guide to help you organise your own wedding.

Personalised weddings: Personalised weddings are based around sharing your personal thoughts about life, marriage & future with friends & Family. They are based on the foundation of your faith in one another, not on an outside belief system. A friend or relation can officiate as a celebrant; the service is very relaxed & informal with your favourite music, readings & poems performed by guests.

It is still necessary to have a civil wedding at your local registry office in your country of origin or at a ‘Marie’ in France before you have your ceremony or blessing with us.

Design your own ceremony: For advice about wedding services email: info@gomarryinfrance.com

Testimonials

“A dream wedding in the perfect location!” August 28th 2010

As soon as we entered the driveway we were sold, Sasha & Tim sealed the deal with their homely & warm reception. They were full of knowledge about the area & drew us maps to the best beaches & made sure we visited the most picturesque places. The chateau alone is in such a tranquil & magnificent area that the pictures do not do it justice! Throughout the year running up to the wedding i knew we were in safe hands & it was a huge relief to have so much organised for us.

Our wedding at Chateau Du Puits Es Pratx was a fabulous 5 day affair with excellent food, great entertainment - the jam night was great fun & something different for our guests & the wedding was the most memorable & special day for us both. The setting I still can't get over it's beauty and the photos bring a tear to my eye. The flowers, arranged by Sasha were simply splendid & exactly how i'd imagined them (all she worked from was a couple of photos I sent). Tim and Sasha really did go the extra mile for us on our wedding day & took all of the worry out of the day. We can't thank them enough and look forward to returning for years to come. Hayley & Gaz Wildsmith

“Wedding of our dreams thanks to Tim and Sasha” 3 July 2010

Sasha and Tim are from the UK, with backgrounds in haute cuisine, photography and event planning - we explained we would be paying for the wedding ourselves and instantly they put us at ease, explaining that we didn’t need to spend a fortune to have the wedding of our dreams. This summer, it became a reality. The wedding day was just amazing - the most perfect ceremony under a beautiful gazebo in the front garden with a superb live Spanish guitarist, champagne reception on the terrace followed by the reception in the courtyard surrounded by beautiful flowers & hanging lanterns at night - just magical. The food was AMAZING - the beef was quoted as the best people had ever tasted & how Sasha managed to provide such amazing food with the service of a michelin starred restaurant I just don’t know. Her organisational skills are superb which meant that we could just relax and enjoy our day. We had a live band (“Zia”) Friendly, helpful, amazing live female vocals, great wedding party music. I CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS AS A VENUE HIGHLY ENOUGH. The weather was amazing throughout and come Monday morning I had a tear in my eye as we left with the best memories of our wedding weekend. If you want a wedding in France, we can’t recommend the chateau enough - a weekend with our best friends and family, plenty of time to actually talk to our guests and the wedding of our dreams - perfect. Sasha and Tim, we cant thank you enough! Matt & Annelise Rowland.

“Outstanding Wedding Week at The Chateau du Puits es Pratx” 21 Sep 2009

We didn't come out to view the Chateau beforehand but Tim & Sasha put us at ease with their organisation of the wedding with a professional but friendly manner. When we arrived before the wedding we were blown away by the place. It was even nicer than the pictures we had seen on the website with a mixture of the old style of the chateau & the up to date facilities. We organised a welcome buffet on the night before the wedding which I would highly recommend as it got everyone together for anyone who didn't know each other. The wedding itself went off without a hitch & was even better than we could ever have imagined. From the Sunflowers around the wedding arbour to the design on the tables in the cave it was simply amazing. All the staff at the Chateau worked tirelessly to make sure eveything went well but did so in an unobtrusive manner that made the day seemless! The meal was fabulous as well with many of the guests saying it was the best beef they had tasted ever!! We finished the week with a BBQ on the Friday night & an amazing concert with Hazel O'Connor on Saturday. Simon & Jan Norton.

“Chateau Du Puits Es Pratx will always be a very special place for us” July 09

The wedding weekend was a great success & the food was delicious & plentiful. We feel lucky to have spent time with people that are so dear to us, in such relaxed & beautiful surroundings. The logistics & planning was hard work, but truly worth it. Thank you also for the champagne left to us & my Parents – this was a truly lovely & delicious touch! Thank you also to Ruairi for being so accommodating & for playing our chosen music at chosen times etc. Chateau Du Puits Es Pratx will always be a very special place for us, & we fully intend on visiting in the near future. Much love & thanks, Katie & Tom Ibbotson.

“The biggest thank you to all at The Chateau du Puits es Pratx” 20 June 2009

Thank you for all of your hard work, enthusiasm, imagination, flexibility & skill, the list goes on & most of all for sharing our vision & how we saw our wedding happening & helping us achieve exactly that. We couldn’t have wished for a better weekend & we know that all of our guests thought that the Chateau & grounds were just fantastic, magical; any event in these surroundings with your cooking, Sasha & your lovely touches everywhere, could not fail to be stunning. Ruairi; as our D.J. you & your tunes are truly awesome! Much love and thanks to you all. Georgina and Christian Nelson

October 2008 “How a dream becomes reality”

From the moment we met Tim and Sasha Hazael, we knew that here were a couple with the skill, passion & work ethic, not to mention the fantastic location, who were able to take our ideas for our wedding & turn them into the reality that we had hoped & dreamed of. Our wedding, held at the beginning of October 2008, was a massive success, for us & our guests. Nothing was too much trouble for the organisers, the ambiance relaxed & efficient, the cuisine outstanding, the accommodation ideal, so thank you to "Team Hazael" long may you continue making dreams come true! James & Sarah Wylie : Chelmsford

“Wedding weekender” why not give it a go! September 2008

My husband and I got married at Chateau du Puits es Pratx this summer. What a fabulous weekend we had! We rented the whole Domaine. When we visited, the atmosphere was of a home from home. We wanted somewhere that we could have a weekend of activities including a football challenge & BBQ the day after the wedding. Tim was our photographer & we have some amazing photos including a selection taken by the serene Canal du Midi. As chef Sasha is very imaginative & gave us lots of scope when putting the menu together. The food was spectacular & had a real wow factor. The décor was stunning, Sasha sourced a collection of matching crockery in the theme of the wedding especially for us. The best for me was our fairytale ceremony. The vineyard setting was gorgeous & the seating looked like something from a film! I will look back on our wedding with very fond memories & highly recommend a truly French wedding. Mrs Newman : London

“wonderful week and wedding” Chateau du Puits es Pratx June 2008

Our whole time at Chateau du Puits es Pratx was absolutely delightful. During the days we visited cafés on the Canal du Midi, a variety of Cathar castles, the amazing mediaeval walled city of Carcassonne & the Med beaches. The wedding we attended was beautiful: the courtyard & old winery magically lit, wonderful food & wine, balmy Mediterranean night & all so much cheaper than it would have been in the UK. The whole organisation from guest arrival, through the ceremony amongst the vines, the dinner in the stone hall, to the music & dancing till very late, was praised, & with attentive hosts the whole occasion was totally memorable. See for yourself, you won’t be disappointed. Mr D. Tripp : Australia

Oct 18, 2008 “Perfect wedding weekender”

I am just coming back down to reality after a wonderful long weekend at the Chateau Du Puits Es Pratx. We booked the Chateau for my daughter's wedding at the end of September. We enjoyed a variety of different meals, including dinner in the Chateau, a buffet in the courtyard, a barbecue & of course the wedding breakfast itself. The food was fresh & prepared to a high standard; the menu offered was imaginative & delicious! Many special dishes were prepared for the numerous allergies/special dietary needs of our guests; we were catered for brilliantly. The setting was perfect with a terrace leading down to a 'bower' among the vines. It was a perfect wedding weekend, enjoyed by absolutely everyone. Mrs Ladhams Northhampton
